He was predeceased by: his parents, Elgin Graves and Alice Ethel Galliher Johnson; his daughter Bonnie Johnson Andrews; his former wife Mary Ellen Johnson; his wife Mamie Neal Johnson; and his siblings, Melvin, Glenny, Lynn Johnson, Mag Duncan, Cletis Chittum, Zana Rhodes, Norma Lee Bowles and Sue Prillaman.
He is survived by: his children, Cheryl Lindsey (Dan) of Corinth, MS, Pat Ledbetter (Gary) of Banner, MS, Roger Johnson (Debbie) of Senatobia, MS, David Johnson (Tina) of Long Beach, MS and Barry Johnson (Debbie) of Hernando, MS; and his son-in-law Wayne Andrews of Pearl, MS. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
