He is survived by: his children, Gilbert McThunel, II of Batesville, MS and Courtney McThunel of Batesville, MS; and his brothers, Dennis Van Lee of Detroit, MI and Nathan Hooks of Batesville, MS.. He is also survived by five grandchildren.
