He was predeceased by: his parents, Victor B. Byrd and Annie May Wigley Byrd of Lexington; his former wife Elizabeth Brame Byrd; his brother Walter Cale Byrd; his son Brame Garner; and his grandparents, Walter Josh Wigley, Nan Wigley, Caleb Hezekiah Byrd and Fannie Watt Fryer Byrd.
He is survived by: his children, Ernest Levi "Lee" Garner III (Beth) of Batesville and Ann "Whit" Whitten Byrd Bright (Shane) of Nesbit, MS.; his grandchildren, Ernest Levi Garner IV, Miles Whitten Garner, Sloan Elle Garner, Brame Garner II (Jordan), McKinley Carter Garner, Preston Shane Bright and Ainsley Elizabeth Bright; his sisters, Bernice Byrd Brooks of Starkville, MS and Hazel Byrd McBride (Jimmy) of Winona, MS; his siblings-in-law, Wesley Whitten Brame of Batesville and Anne Downing Byrd; and his nieces, Susan Cockerell (Kevin), Annice Jenkins (Rob), Rebecca Patterson (Chism), Cindy Wilson (Keenan) and Carol Short (Frank).
