She was predeceased by: her parents, Samuel Dilworth and Myrtle Lawson Staten; her former husband David Pate; her husband John Thomas Newman; her son Johnny Newman; and her son-in-law Les Pollard.
She is survived by: her children, Sam Newman (Valda) of Bloomington, IN, Becky Carpenter (Sam) of Smithville and Roxanne McTaggart (Donald) of West Point; her stepdaughter Gale Pollard of West Point; and her sister Mary Eva Crosswhite of Tupelo. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the McCondy Cemetery or to a charity of the donor's choice.
