He was predeceased by: his parents, Cluster Vertis "Mug" and Pearlie Mae Johnson Towery; his daughter Kimberly Murray; and his siblings, R. C., W. C. Towery and Mildred Bridges.

He is survived by: his wife Mavis Towery; his sons, Bobby Keith Towery (Lisa) of Smithville and Bruce Benton (Lori) of Smithville; and his sister Bernice Lloyd of Amory. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
