James left this world on February 6, 2025 at the age of 103, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam Davis and Sarah Davis of Algoma, MS.; his wife Jessie B. Hobson Davis; his grandson Arthur; his siblings, Allie B. William, Pearl Hendrick, Alma Dell Golden, Mable Hatchett, Marion Wilson, Eldrege Davis, Leon Davis, Cliton Davis and Grauthor Davis; his children, James Davis, Jr., Bobby Joe Davis (Amanda) of Houlka, MS. and Mira Jean McShan; and his grandchildren, Carlyn Jean, Lawerence McShan and Bobby Davis.
He is survived by: his children, Willie Clay Davis (Ruby) of Houlka, MS, Lester Davis (Pearlean) of Houlka, MS, Sarah Boyd (Jimmie) of Okolona, MS and Mary Townsend (Jimmy) of Nettleton, MS; his grandchild Jessie Gordon (Barbara); his caregivers, Terrell Davis, Jeanette Chandler, Arthur Gordon and Myaire White; his close friend Tyrone Hightower; and his sister Doris Faye Gardner.
Visitation was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Serenity Funeral Home (248 Highway 15, South Pontotoc, MS 38863). A funeral service was held on Sunday, February 16th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Usher Valley United Methodist Church (754 Moorman Rd, Pontotoc, MS 38863).
