He was predeceased by: his parents, Jay Caldwell Hamm and Minnie Ruth Mayberry (Counts); his wife Joy Ann Hamm (Scott); and his siblings, Frances Bland, Christine Honeycutt, Johnny Counts, Dewey Counts, Harvey Counts and Willie Counts.
He is survived by: his half-siblings, Mary Best, Charles Caraker and Monroe Counts (Betty Simpson). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
