He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Lester and Ernestine Schmitz; his brother James Schmitz; and his grandson Nicholas Schmitz. He is survived by: his spouse Brenda Schmitz; and his children, April Rhodes (Tom), Annette Hormann, Chad Schmitz (Heather), Dean Cain, Joseph Cain, Debra Jones and John Cain (Kathy).
