He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Cooper and Willadean McQueen Cooper; his wife Ruth Smith; and his stepbrothers, Ralph Sheets and Carl Sturgeon.
He is survived by: his daughters, Elizabeth Gomez of Exeter and Mary Shipman (Chris) of Sedalia, Missouri; his sister Joy Tichenor (Ed) of Abilene, Texas; his stepsister Nancy Mussat of Summerville; and his caregiver Peggy Miller. He is also survived by other relatives and many friends.
