He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, James Herschel and Orpha Katherine Manes (Sherman); his wife Joyce "Darlene" Armstrong; his sister Kleyla Macracken; his children, John Manes (Robyn), Debra Slater (Paul) and Julie Manes; and his grandchildren, Regan Slater, Ryan Slater (Christi), Lauren Goettsche (Jordan), Evan Slater, Taylor Manes, Colby Manes (Amber) and Jade Manes.
Memorials may be directed to the Shenandoah Veterans Museum or the Tarkio Valley Antique Tractor Association.
