He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Crofford and Dorothy Pauline Lewis Crofford; his brother-in-law Bob; and his nephew Bill Crumpton. He is survived by: his former wife Patricia Ann Crumpton of Newport; his wife Pat Crofford; his children, Steve Crofford (Carrie) and Amy Cunningham (Scott); his grandchildren, Haley, Kyley, Carter and Hudson Cunningham; his great grandchildren, Gabe and Astrid Perez; his sister-in-law Myrna Sarzotti (Tony); his cousins, Carol Bowden (Cookie) and Bill Lewis (Donna); his nieces and nephews, Rob Crumpton, Lynn Crumpton and Sandy Lightner; and his sister-in-law Martha Crumpton.
Parkinson's and dementia began to take control of Earl's body in 2008, the year he retired.
