He was predeceased by: his wife Martha Beard; his parents, Oliver W. Beard and Lilly Ann Beard; and his sisters, Winona Garrett and Geraldine Billingsley.

He is survived by: his children, Thomas Beard Jr (Lisa) and Mattie L. Vandeven (George) of Carrollton, IL; and also Cheney. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
