He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Kalkofen and Clara Kalkofen (Pitts); his wife Shirley Eileen Potter; and his siblings, Fred (Fritz), Lloyd (Ozzie), Leon (Teachie), Bernice Vavruska (Bonnie) and Janet Gay.

He is survived by: his children, Bob Kalkofen (Bobanne) of Shawnee, KS, Cheryl Sims (Warren) of Blue Springs, MO and Jill Carmichael (Jeff) of Wentzville, MO; his brother Jerry Kalkofen (Hazel) of Green Bay, WI; his grandchildren, Chris Kalkofen (Erica), Greg Sims (Sarah), Zach Carmichael (Marissa), Alarie Ornburn (Michael), Iris Smithey (Evan) and Alexa White (Andrew); and his great grandchildren, Aidan, Miles Ornburn, Gabe, Auggie Sims, Owen Smithey, Lily Smithey and Ingrid Kalkofen.
