He is survived by: his wife Jane Leverenz Brunner; his brothers, David Welde of Springfield and Mark Brunner of Jefferson City; and his children, Nathan Brunner (Tacia), Amanda Moeller (Trent), Mallory Brunner (Danny), Tanner Brunner, Chris Brunner (Lyra) and Annabel Brunner (Shane). He is also survived by many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.

“The world needs more men like Bill Bruner. I am forever grateful and privileged to have known him. So many outings, campouts, backpacking trips and adventures. To say Bill was an influential figure in my life is a great understatement. Bill was my Scoutmaster when I first joined Cub Scouts, he made such an impression on me. There was no doubt in which BSA troop I wanted to join in Springfield. Troop 222! The best troop. Keep the campfire lit. Save me a seat. Love you Stix! I'll see you again.”
