He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Richards and May Richards (Ferguson); his daughter Laura Ellen Richards; his grandson Nikolas Keith Birdwell; and his siblings, Vernon Samuel Richards, William Josiah Richards and Kathryn Hartman.
He is survived by: his wife Ann Laura Hays; his children, Michael Richards, Julia Birdwell (Keith), Deborah Warren (Larry) and Mary Schwartz (Michael); and his sisters, Bonnie Green (Gary) of Deer Park, TX and Ruth Stone of Reno, NV. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one great-great-granddaughter.
