He was predeceased by: his parents, Erman Lee and Norma Jeanne Mitchell (Dye); and his brother Kerry. He is survived by: his wife Becky Evans Mitchell; his children, Veronica Mitchell and Craig Mitchell; his stepson Jason Mitchell (Melanie) of Joplin; his siblings, Kathy Mitchell of Reeds, Missouri and Jeff Mitchell of Joplin; his aunt Kathey Dye of Carl Junction, Missouri; and his cousins, George, Myrna Oviatt and Gayle Yaryan. He is also survived by nieces, cousins and other extended family.

In lieu of flowers memorials are being directed to the Joplin Humane Society c/o the funeral home.
