He was predeceased by: his parents, James Johnson and Beatrice Everett Johnson; and his former wife Brenda Johnson. He is survived by: his wife Betty Johnson (Peterson); his children, Wes Johnson (Ashley) of Joplin, Angel Johnson of Webb City, Pamela Maxwell of Howell, Michael Siegel (DeLynna) of Smithville, Stephen Siegel (Erin) of Republic, Brook Leece (Malachi) of Lawton, Bree Johnson of Webb City and Brittany Johnson of Joplin; and his sisters, Janet Black of Webb City and Patty Merry (Butch) of Noel, Missouri.. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to VFW Post 534 in Joplin in his memory.
