He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Joseph and Leola M. McGowan (Campmier); and his sister Aileen Welsh. He is survived by: his son Andrew Carroll McGowan; his wife Carolyn Lee Effertz; his sons, Matt and Bubba; his daughter-in-law Janine Parry; his grandchildren, Emma, Charlie, Juliet, Andrew and Nora; his stepgrandchildren, Kate and Paul Schreckhise; his brother Gary McGowan; and also Zach.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Joplin Humane Society or Sierra Club.
