It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Melvin Swopes in Weaubleau, Missouri, born in Peru, Kansas, who passed away on February 26, 2025, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin T Swopes and Goldie Swopes (Norris). He is survived by: his sons, Rick and Ron (Janet); his brother Leroy (Dorotha) of Appleton City, MO; his grandchildren, Rob Davis (Michelle) of Roscoe and Mandy Hutchison (Jac) of Eldorado Springs; his great grandchildren, Dakota Taylor (Rayne), Destiny Taylor, Kolton (Brittany Hutchison), Kanen, Kyler Hutchison, Quade Hutchison and Tyson Taylor; and his great great grandchild Kanezlie Hutchison of Eldorado Springs. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Visitation was held on Sunday, March 2nd 2025 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Sheldon Funeral Chapel (2111 MO-32, El Dorado Springs, MO 64744). A funeral service was held on Sunday, March 2nd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
