He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Gibson and Hattie Gibson (Carpenter); and his siblings, Rufus, Houston, William, John Henry, Abe, Martin, Donald, Fred, Mamie, Lucille, Winnie Mae, Minnie and Barbara.

He is survived by: his spouse Kay Holmes; his sister Alice Singleton (Jim); his children, Tammy Oakes (Steve Jones), Thomas Jr. Gibson (Tammy) and Anna Beth Wennihan (John); his siblings-in-law, Malinda Gibson, Chris and Holly Holmes; and his grandchildren, Mandy Pitzen (Kevin), Kayti Hayes (Josh), Chris Oakes (Candace), Jacob Gibson (Julie), Sam Tanner (Drew), Seth Sheldon (Jennifer Alvarez), Cody Gibson (Shelbie), Matt Gibson (Angel), Kori Chamberlain (Chase), Tasha Gibson, Makayla Oakes (Bob Reafling), Tabitha Gibson, Mason McMahon and Carter Wennihan. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Tom was actively involved in the community through donations of fish for local benefits for those in need.
