She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Corbett and Gertrude Corbett (Boeckmann). She is survived by: her husband Richard Steckel of Washington, MO; and her children, Nathan Steckel (Elizabeth), Andrew of Centerton and Katherine Steckel (Marcus Younger) of Hillsboro, Oregon..

“Great memories of my first Hawaii trip in 2019 at Phyllis' invitation--amazing to have a passionate geologist at our side--and the cross country train back from the West coast was a wonderful capstone. Grateful for her musical leadership at Peace as well--her flute "filled out" our sound, and she made sure we got our timing--as in "triplets"--just right. I will remember her beautiful smile and her generosity. She is a terrific example of how to quietly live a significant life.”
