He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Sr. Melton and Lena Melton; his wife Dorothy Melton; and his siblings, Carl Melton, Buddy Melton and Mary Melton.
He is survived by: his former wife Dorothy Schulz; his daughters, Machel Kauffman (Jon) of Union, Pamela Plafcan Schutter (John) of Labadie and Amy Schroeter (Marvin) of Washington; his siblings, Rick Melton of Illinois and Judy Novotny of Fenton; his grandchildren, Jessica Carey of Union, Corporal Patrick Carey (Leah) of Gerald, Nick Plafcan of Tennessee, Trevor Plafcan of Labadie, Laurena Schroeter of Washington and Leighten Schroeter of Washington; and his great grandchildren, Jayden Noble and Bryson Carey. He is also survived by nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Memorial donations to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Gateway in Honor of Leighten Schroeter or Make-A-Wish Foundation are preferred.
