He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Norman Steele and Edna Margie Marie Erslon; his stepmother Betty Steele; his brother William Cronin; and his grandson Jesstin Gilliam.
He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth "Betty" Steele of Marthasville, Missouri; his children, Patricia Steele of Marthasvillle, Pamela Milan (Mark) of Warrenton, Judith Gilliam of O'Fallon, Denise Jennemann (Nate) of Affton, Missouri, Robert Steele Jr. (Concetta Chiodini) of Marthasville, Jeremiah Steele of St. Charles and Jason Steele (Lauren) of St. Charles, Missouri; and his siblings, William Steele of Ozark, David Cronin of O'Fallon, Harry Maue of Clayton, Mike Erslon of St. Louis, Missouri, Janet Gipperich of Florida and Sheila Mudro of St. Louis, Missouri. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren.
