He was predeceased by : his parents, Lawrence Bernard Yates and Goldie Schwartz Yates; and his son William Yates II (Tommy). He is survived by : his children, Phyllis Yates, Sharon Yates, Sandra Cooper, Patricia Yates, Christy King, Douglas Yates, William Yates III and Sarah Mangelson; and his siblings, Glen Yates, Marilyn June Hill and Gloria Dailey. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
