He was predeceased by: his wife Joyce Barr (Regelbrugge); his siblings, Donald Barr, Francis "Bud" Barr, Leon Barr, Henry Manning Barr, Eleanor Marie Teale (Barr), Laura Virginia Flathers (Barr), Rosemary Barr, Bernadette Louise Barr, Mary Angela Barr, Margaret Anetta Nickles (Barr) and Phyllis Ann Kilgore (Barr); and his parents, James Barr and Minnie Barr (Schieberl).

He is survived by: his children, Sandy Phillips (Ed), Linda Wilson (Mike) and John Barr Jr.; and his grandchildren, Haley Wilson and Aaron Wilson.
