He was predeceased by: his parents, John Armstrong and Esther Armstrong; his wife Lola Matheney Armstrong; his son Dean Allen Armstrong, Jr.; and his siblings, John Armstrong and Willaneta Pieroni.

He is survived by: his children, Michael Armstrong (Jessica) of Wappapello, Jesse Armstrong (Sarah) of Wappapello, Rebecca Armstrong of Dexter and Matthew Armstrong (Erin) of Puxico; his grandchildren, Kendall McNew, Clayton, Jordan, Brooke, Gage, Jessa, Drake, Ellie and Josie Armstrong; his great grandchildren, Remington Armstrong and Oliver McNew; and his sister Carole Marie Richard of Wappapello.
