He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo and Elizabeth; his brother John Straatmann; and his siblings-in-law, John Vondera, Leroy Maune, Rose Bradley (Tom), Rita Straatmann and Gail Straatmann.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Straatmann; his children, Annette Moore (Michael) of Villa Ridge, Sara Husenica (Dale) of Ballwin, Warren Straatmann of Villa Ridge, James Straatmann (Julie) of Washington and Julie Simaytis (Brendan) of St. Louis; his siblings, Dorothy Klekamp (Bill) of Steuben, WI, Margie Maune of Villa Ridge, Leroy Straatmann of Washington, Harvey Straatmann (Melba) of Villa Ridge, Tom Straatmann of New Haven, Melvin Straatmann of Villa Ridge and Randy Straatmann (Leann) of Villa Ridge; and his sister-in-law Roselyn Vondera of Villa Ridge. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Exceptional Equestrians or St. John Gildehaus School.
