He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Dixon and Nonie Dixon (Wilson); his spouse Izetta Dixon (Redmond); and his brothers, Maurice Dixon (Jim), Robert Dixon, Donald Dixon, Dempsey Eugene Dixon, Sr. and Harold Dixon.

He is survived by: his daughter Norma Redmond (Michael) of Evanston, IL; his grandchildren, Michelle Fox (Lee) of Normal, IL and Derrick Barber, Jr. of Evanston, IL; his sisters, Dorothy Miles (Herman) of Columbia, MO and Cora Braggs of Kansas City, MO; his great grandchildren, Danielle Fox and Mariah Barber of Chicago, IL; his cousin Kim Davis; and his close friends, Barbara Wray Clark and Pluck. He is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews.
