He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Peter and Silverine DeVault; his son Rodney DeVault; and his siblings, Floyd DeVault and Jean Daniels.
He is survived by: his spouse Laverne Bates; his son Melvin V. DeVault of Seattle, WA; his close friend Dorothy A Brandt of Vandalia, MO; his sister Mary C. Elam of Maple Heights, OH; and his stepchildren, John Harrington (Gwyn) of Warrensburg, MO, Ronald Brandt (Emily) of Montgomery City, MO, Diona Davis (David) of Vandalia, MO and Alicia Brandt (Kendell) of St. Louis, MO. He is also survived by two grandchildren, twelve step-grandchildren and six step-great grandchildren.
