He was predeceased by: his parents, John McCowan and Beulah McCowan (Kimbriel); and his sister Barbara Evans. He is survived by: his wife Nancy McCowan; his children, Arnie McCowan, Jr., Shonnie Dansby (Tom) and Charlie McCowan (Mindy); his brother Kim McCowan; and his grandchildren, Dillon McCowan, Devin McCowan, Katie Roweton, Josh Dansby, Alyssa Mayberry, Heather Harris and Breanna McCowan. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and friends.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Ozarks Area Racers Foundation.
