He is survived by: his wife Madeline Politte Ratchford; his son James W. Ratchford III; his grandchildren, James W. IV, Frances W. and Joseph E. Ratchford; and his sister Mary Margaret Sigrest. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
