As Carol Ann departs from our midst, her spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Carol Ann. Though Carol Ann may no longer walk beside us, her legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Bernard Oonk and Anna Mae Quirk Oonk; and her stepmother Beulah McFarland Oonk. She is survived by: her husband James H. Squires; her daughters, Elizabeth Leff and Susan Squires (Mark Goldschmidt); and her granddaughters, Jacqueline and Caroline Leff.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Missouri Botanical Garden are appreciated.

“I have such great memories of going with my mom and siblings each summer to visit Carol and swim and eat hot dogs. I remember her grilling for us with her sun visor on, smiling and joking around. She was so kind and funny. Then as an adult she met me for lunch a few times while I was in undergrad, always offering sage advice and being supportive of my hopes and dreams. Although we didn’t see each other often, she will always hold a special place in my heart. She will be dearly missed!”
