He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles and Thelma; and his sister Shirley Gruettemeyer (Carl). He is survived by: his brother Charles Hammerschmidt (Sandra) of Moberly, MO; his close friends, Steve Groff (Debbie) of Beaufort, MO, Henry Kreftmeyer (Sally) of Union, MO, Mike, Wendy, Michael, Stephen Beard of Union, MO and Jeff Kessels (Travis) of Union, MO; and his pets, Hunter and Sweet Pea. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, many dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made toward funeral expenses.
