He was predeceased by: his parents, William Thornton and Mary Alexander; his daughter Mary C. Thornton; and his siblings, Claude Thornton, Frank Thornton, Clyde Thornton and Frieda Bandy.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Thornton of Union; his children, Carla Schuler (Mark) of Maryland Heights, Darla Woolford (James) of Washington and Eric Thornton (Pamela) of Anaheim, CA; his siblings, Thelma Vaughn of Sullivan, Kathleen Branson of Eureka, Ruth Thornton of Colorado, Paul Thornton of Treloar, James Thornton (Cathy) of Marthasville and Gary Thornton (Jan) of Pacific; his grandchildren, Matthew Davenport (Amy), Chad Smith (Jennifer), Molly Davenport, Cori Smith, Trevor Thornton and Austin Thornton; and his sisters-in-law, Linda Watson and Nadine Thornton. He is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations can be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
