Georgia Lee Whorton Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Georgia Lee Whorton of Union Star, Missouri, born in Rosendale, Missouri, who passed away on April 1, 2021, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, William "Bill" and Thelma Simerly (Profitt); her siblings, Leroy Simerly, Bud Simerly, Donna VanMeter, Lynn Vaughan and Johnny Simerly; her son-in-law Ron Garton; and her siblings-in-law, Betty Simerly, Judy Simerly, Neva Wolford, Hazel Whorton, Joe Kimmel, Max Vaughan, Zodie VanMeter, Bill Wolford and Pete Wheeler.
She is survived by: her husband Basil "Don" Whorton; her children, Cheryl Garton, Donald Whorton (Jackie) of Union Star, MO, Douglas Whorton (Beth) of Kansas City, MO, David Whorton of Union Star, MO, Rex Whorton (Connie) of Holton, KS and Ivan Whorton (Marilyn); her siblings, Katy Kimmel of Union Star, MO, Dale Simerly of Union Star, MO and Paul Simerly (Ann Marie); and her siblings-in-law, Dorothy Simerly of Union Star, MO, Dixie Wood of Savannah, MO and Jay Whorton. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p. m. Monday at the funeral home where friends may call after 4:00 p. m. Monday where social distancing will be observed and masks are recommended.
