He was predeceased by: his parents, Emmett Shafer and Mabel Shafer (Clare); his wife Ruthie Shafer; and his siblings, Kenneth Shafer and Dorothy Bendixen.
He is survived by: his son Jay Shafer (Rhonda) of Troy, MO; his granddaughter Jaime Carroz (Jeremy) of Troy, MO; and his great grandchild Spencer Carroz. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
