He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Samuel Freeman Hersey and Dorothy Ruth Behnke Hersey; his wife Mary Evelyn Lawrence; his children, Philip Wayne Hersey (Susan), Samuel Ray Hersey (Louise), Stephen Wrede Hersey (Ruth), Vivian Evelyn Hersey Dersu (Samuel) and Paul Fred Hersey (Hiroko); and his family, Samuel Kevin Wilkinson (Penny), Kimberley Jo Wilkinson Everson (Larry) and Bruce Kenan Wilkinson (Bonnie).
