He was predeceased by: his parents, LaVerne Leininger and Chloe Leininger of Boone, IA. He is survived by: his wife Judith Ann (Meyer); his children, Shelly, Stacey Clodfelter (Kent) of Kansas City and Shawn (Cara Leininger) of Laredo; his grandchildren, Ashley, Zachary Burson, Elijah, Rosella and Lydia Leininger; and his siblings, Pastor Keith Leininger (Debbie) of Manhattan, IL, Jean Timm (Lowell) of Lafayette, IN, Lynne Johnson (Jack) of Milford, IA, Cindy Andorf (David) of DesMoines, IA and Beth Stockton (Earl) of Diamond Bar, CA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given to The Trenton Heroes or Wesley United Methodist Church.
