He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Henry and Geneva Ruth Schmidt (Wiser); his brother Tom Schmidt; and his sister-in-law Glenda Schmidt. He is survived by: his wife Virginia Ruth Hodges; his sons, Jeff Schmidt (Tonya), Brian Schmidt (Shannon) and Michael Schmidt (Jennifer); his brothers, Gary Schmidt, Danny Schmidt (Carolyn), Charlie Schmidt and Bobby Schmidt (Beverly); his sister-in-law Betsy Schmidt; his grandchildren, Madison Gourley (Mac), Benjamin Schmidt, Wyatt Schmidt (Rebecca), Owen Schmidt, Jackson Schmidt, Rachel Hoellering (Jacob) and Rebecca McCarty (Jered); his stepgrandchildren, Marcos Morales, Christian Allen and Nate Robles; and his great grandchildren, Nolan McCarty and Jace McCarty. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Page-Dady Funeral Home- Tipton (545 US-50, Tipton, MO 65081). A memorial service was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, honoring Darrell's commitment to helping those in need.
