He is survived by : his wife Reta; his children, Nick (Maggie) of Jefferson City, Nathan (Bridget) of Tipton and Ashlee Pettigrew (Carl) of Tipton; his grandchildren, Ben Bestgen, Emma Bestgen, Abram Pettigrew, Blaire Bestgen, Alden Pettigrew, Luke Bestgen, Beau Bestgen, Anderson Pettigrew, Baker Bestgen and Atwell Pettigrew; his siblings, Paulette Anderson (Marc), Barbara Reys (Bob), Danny Bestgen, Lucy Pedego, Mary Clark (Ron), Laurie Bestgen, Ann Lowe (Bruce) and Ellen Allee (John); his brothers-in-law, Dale Spillars (Lynne) and Jim Spillars (Debbie); his aunt Mildred Martin; and his uncle Ron Orschlen. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A rosary was held on Monday, July 1st 2024 from 8:45 AM to 9:00 AM at the St. Andrew Catholic Church (106 W Cooper St, Tipton, MO 65081). Visitation was held on Monday, July 1st 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the same location. A Mass was held on Monday, July 1st 2024 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, July 1st 2024 at 12:00 PM at the St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery (106 W Cooper St, Tipton, MO 65081).

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Tipton R-VI Football and Boys Golf programs, and also the St. Andrew building renovation project.
