He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Nary Johnson and Martha Beulah Johnson (Cain); and his brothers, Daniel Johnson, Randall Johnson, Lindell Johnson, Richard Johnson, Michael Johnson, Mitchell Johnson, Samuel, Joseph Johnson and Roger Johnson.

He is survived by: his sons, Ronald Johnson of Illinois and Michael Johnson of Illinois; and his siblings, Jeanette Hamline of House Springs, Martha Schaefferkoetter (Benny) of High Ridge, Mary Wicker of Cadet, Missouri and Donald Johnson of High Ridge, Missouri. He is also survived by four grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
