He was predeceased by: his parents, John Peter Lorentzen of Cahokia, IL. and Mary Veronica Lorentzen (Schranz) of Cahokia, IL.; his wife Eleanor; his son Loren Joseph Lorentzen; and his brother Gene Lorentzen.

He is survived by: his children, Catherine A. Perkins (Cathy) and John P. Lorentzen III; his wife Becky of Sturgeon; his children, Sharon A. Stallings (Rick) of Sterling and Robert E. Lorentzen (Rachelle) of Bondurant, IA.; his grandchildren, Michelle Tomlin, Zach Lorentzen, Jacob Lorentzen, Johnna Lorentzen, Joseph Lorentzen, Tanner Stallings, Sarah Stallings, Matthew Lorentzen and Lauren Lorentzen; his great grandchildren, Clara Lorentzen and Kylie Sirois; and his sister Margaret Ann Pickett.
