She was predeceased by: her husband Raymond Metscher; her son David Metscher; her great grandchild Amber; and her siblings, James "Bud" Spencer and Marg Elliott.

She is survived by: her children, Ray Metscher Jr. (Eula) of Gravois Mills, Elaine Buchanan of Independence and Alice Anderson of Blue Springs; and her siblings, Herb Spencer of Anamosa, Elbert Spencer of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Florence Markley of Ames and Darlene Goodrich of Grinnell, Iowa. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and ten great-great grandchildren; along with many other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice Compassus or the American Heart Association.

“Always so hard when your mom gets called home. I have so many good memories of my sweet aunt Dorothy. When her and mom (Emma) got together it was so much fun to watch those two, they would start laughing about something and sounded like a couple of ole hens clucking! Precious memories! Your mom was an awesome cook and her baked goods were out of this world. Yep, she was special in so many ways! My thoughts and prayers to all the family.”
