He was predeceased by: his parents, Irving Cowling and Margaret Cowling; his former wife Betty Hogan Cowling; his daughter Phyllis Jean Wiest; his grandchildren, Anna Wiest, Aubrey Nothum and Colin Wiest; his great grandchild Dysamae Minson; and his brother William Cowling.
He is survived by: his spouse Gayla Cowling of Dillard, MO; his children, Anya Allred (Bryan) of Orem, UT, Bobbi Benesh (Peter) of Loveland, CO, Forrest Cowling (Beth) of New Hope, MO, Christopher Cowling (Andrea) of Caldwell, ID and Milton Cowling of Jonesburg, MO; his stepchildren, Benjamin Campbell (Jillian) of Kenya, Casey Nothum (Timothy) of Washington, MO, Chanda Hakanson (Todd) of Chesterfield, MO and Cinnamon Michalik (Jarek) of Chesterfield, MO; his brother John Cowling (Loretta) of Cuba, MO; and his sister-in-law Joyce Cowling of Rolla, MO. He is also survived by friends as an animal.
