He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Rives Wright and Benjamin Ivey Simpson, Jr.; his former wife Virginia Simpson; his son Greg Simpson; his brother Ben Simpson; and his brother-in-law Ed Almeida.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia "Ginny" Levesque; his daughters, Jennifer Inman (Terry) of Springfield, MO and Amy Knight (Joe) of Chicago, IL; his grandchildren, Gregory, Johnathan Miller, Katie, Caroline, Claire and Ava Knight; his brother Bobby Simpson (Bonnie) of Tifton, GA; and his sisters-in-law, Jan Simpson of Macon, GA and Joanne Almeida of Springfield, MO. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, friends and family.
