He was predeceased by: his father Bobby Dale; his grandparents, Joe and Georgia Rickman; and also, Bobby Dale Rickman, Clifford and Frances Johnson.

He is survived by: his mother Carole Joyce Rickman (Johnson) of Stockton, Missouri; his children, Kyle Joseph Rickman, Sarah Renee Rickman and Anna Christine Rickman; his wife Michele Renee Rion; his siblings, Jo Anne Rickman of Stockton, John, Traci Rickman of Bolivar, Judy (Rickman), Kevin Freeze of Stockton, James and Jessica Rickman of Stockton; his nieces and nephews, Dakota Freeze, Kellsi (Rickman), Kyle Shoemaker, Dalton, Lauren Freeze, Jenna Rickman, Karissa Rickman and Jack Rickman; his aunt Elaine (Rickman); his uncle Vince (Gail Johnson); and his parents-in-law, Jane, Dennis Dee and Mike Rion. He is also survived by many cousins and family friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Joe's name may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or Make a Wish of Missouri.
