He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Lowell and Anita Nelle Hanson (Matson); and his brother Jack Hanson. He is survived by: his sister-in-law Lynne; his brother James "Jim" Hanson (Carol); his nephew Christopher Hanson; his nieces, Diana Scrivner and Stacy Siele; his cousin Nelson Davis; and his friend Richard "Dick" Saale.
He was hired by Missouri State University in 1985 as an accountant in the Control Office (now Financial Services) where his area of expertise was with the MSU Foundation.
