He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Hatfield and Eliza Hatfield (Earls); his daughter Karen Ann Trapp; and his grandchildren, Eric Bradley Trapp and Kara Lea Nothagel.

He is survived by: his son Thomas Hugh Hatfield; and his grandsons, Thomas Benjamin Hatfield and Kyle William Hatfield. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.

In light of Earl's charitable spirit and his lifelong financial commitment to various missions and in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Earl's memory to Grace Classical Academy located in Springfield.
