He was predeceased by: his parents, William Thomas Essex and Hester Essex (Torix); and his granddaughter Victoria Lacy (Varady). He is survived by: his wife Ruth Essex; his child Seldon Essex (Tammy); his granddaughter Donna Varady (Essex); and his siblings, Coy Essex (Janice) of Harrison and Sara Jump (Ron) of Bolivar.
The family suggests that memorial donations may be made to the Fair Haven Children's Home, Strafford, MO.
