He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Glen Newland and Barbara Newland; his wife Donna; his children, Jason Newland (Jacqueline) of Olathe, Kansas, Justin Newland, Carla Gompf and David Gompf of Springfield; his grandchildren, Sebastian Pounders, Kaine Rodriguez, Shakira Millan, Amelia Gompf, Sylis Gompf and Zoey Gompf; his great grandchildren, Kendra and Christian Millan; and his sisters, Honora Dash (Jon) of Brooklyn, NY, Nancy Newland of Camdenton, MO, Judy Francis (Monty) of Lexington, KY and Connie Newland of Minneapolis, MN. He was also cherished by nieces and nephews.
